OVERVIEW
All Schoolreach teams are entitled to play in the League. Performance in the BC League does not determine who qualifies for the National tournament. However, the League standings will be used in seeding teams during the Provincial tournament, which is the only qualifier for the Nationals.
GAME PROCEDURE
- Check yours schedule to see who your school plays; (you may play different schools in Senior and Intermediate leageues).
- Away team contacts Home team to organize game.
- If Away team wants to play the game in-person, then the Home team must accommodate them.
- If Away team is unable to play in person, then they can choose to play virtually using BuzzIn.live. Please try to play in person as much as possible.
- Games that are not played result in a forfeit. Team that refuses to play is the forfeiting team. If neither team is cited as the one refusing to play, then both teams forfeit.
- Read all questions, including the tie breakers, even if the game is not a tie. Record the number of tie breakers answered separately. For example, if the score after regular play is 390-290, and team 1 answers 2 tie breakers and team 2 answers 1 tie breaker, record the game as follows: 390(2) – 290 (1).
- After the game, coaches must contact the coordinator with the score of the game. Scores should be multiples of 10 (e.g. 330-290 not 39-29).
DIVISION AND CONFERENCE STANDINGS
- Teams are ranked in division and conference by win-loss record.
- Tie breakers are, in order: average points scored, most game tiebreakers, head-to-head between tied teams, least number of forfeit losses, most points after 1 game, most points after 2 games, etc. In the unlikely event that these tie breakers are not sufficient, a draw will determine ranking of remaining tied teams.
- A forfeit counts as a loss. A win by forfeit counts as a win. The winning team is awarded the average of all their non-forfeit wins that season. The top team in each conference and division are their champions, respectively.
LEAGUE STANDINGS
- League standing is determined by average points scored.
- First tiebreaker is win-loss record. Remaining tiebreakers are same as in division and conference.
CHAMPIONSHIP AND INTERCONFERENCE GAMES
- At the end of the first nine weeks of play, teams from the two conferences will play each other based on ranking in their respective conferences.
- The top-ranked team in Inlet will play the top-ranked team in Metro. THE WINNER OF THIS TWO-PACK GAME WILL BE CROWNED LEAGUE CHAMPION.
- The second-ranked team in Inlet will play the second-ranked team in Metro, and so on.
- The higher-ranked team will be HOME in these games.
- If a conference has more teams than another, there will be intraconference games between the lowest ranked teams.
